The butterflies and the birds are a contemporary departure from the traditionally framed work. They are painted on what are essentially constructed boxes made of the same panel I use in my other work, and the wood stock that would otherwise become the frames. All certified sustainable. The butterflies are approximately 4.75" square, while the birds are 6" square. They are 1.5" deep. The backgrounds are gold or silver leaf which makes the image really "pop". They are sealed with a clear acrylic to protect the metals from oxidation or tarnish.
